"Today was good
Today was fun
Tomorrow is another one"

Dr Seuss
So, the New Year is in full swing and half term is just around the corner (although, didn’t the children just head back to School after Christmas?). It is a welcome break however, I’m sure most parents would agree, as the first term back can be a little tiring with the winter months still looming....not for much longer though as Spring is starting to show its face again, yay!

Hello again BellaCrafts friends, it feels ages since our last blog post - only in January! We hope that 2019 is treating you well so far. Did you start that new craft? Hermoine has been keeping to her crochet resolution and is trying to make one granny square a day (although what she is going to do with all those squares is yet to be decided...maybe she’ll decide in 2020, hehe).

So, the New Year is in full swing and half term is here already (although, didn’t the children just head back to School after Christmas?!). It is a welcome break however, I’m sure most parents would agree, as the first term back can be a little tiring with the winter months still looming....not for much longer though as Spring is starting to show its face again, yay!
If the half term is filling you with some trepidation however (the relentless cries of being bored and oh so hungry sound familiar?) we have been busy thinking of activities to occupy those growing minds and bodies, aka Boredom Busters!!

We have created a Pinterest board for these activities, and much more, in the hope that they provide some inspiration.

We have also been focusing on activities that involve minimal cost, zero screen time and as much fun and creativity as possible. Here are just some of our favourite boredom busters.....

ROCK PAINTING

Rocks can be gathered during a trip out to a rocky beach. Then all you need is some paints (acrylics paint or pens are best) and your imagination! Make a ladybird, write on them with kind words and leave on a walk for someone else to find.

BIRD FEEDERS

We love feeding the birds so bird feeders are always fun to make. We love this one, simply made with a toilet roll, peanut butter and bird seed!

You can also spot birds in your garden when they come to feed! Why not borrow a book from a local library and make a list of all the birds you see?

MAKE YOUR OWN COMIC BOOK

Just sheets of paper, pens/pencils and imagination needed here. Why not create your own comic book hero? Our team member, Jane would be Miss Knitalottia – her super power would be to yarn bomb the world with woolly wonders!
MAKE A COLLAGE/PICTURE

We all have a pile of old magazines around the house (or is that just our Hermoine?) or catalogues through the post. Sit the children down with the magazine, some scissors and glue and get them to create their own pieces of artwork. Hermoine remembers a piece of homework from School where they had to spend a million pounds and spent days cutting out beautiful things (including Matt Goss from Bros...Hmmmm).

WRITE A LETTER / CARD

In a world full of emails and text messaging, it feels so very special to receive post through your letterbox. Why not write to a friend or family member you have not seen for a while. Send some pictures, a funny story or joke. Whatever you send the recipient will be touched that you have thought of them. And who knows what you will receive in return!

Of course, we may also see some sunshine and how nice it is to get outdoors! We are so lucky living in such a beautiful County, with the New Forest, stunning coastline and country parks all on our doorstep! Pack a picnic and go, simple as that. Go for a woodland scavenger hunt, make a den, collect sticks and make fairy wands! Make magical memories...

There are also some very useful websites that advertise things to do with the small humans if you are looking for inspiration including –

Oh, and we may be on some of those websites too!!

Of course we will be here for your half term fun and support every day, do not fear! We will have our holiday club running every week day, themed Princess and Pirate parties on Thursday and Friday and Super Slime Saturday!! Whooooooooop!

As always, our doors are open at all times for your crafting whims in our craft shop plus making activity needs.
Drop in activities will be running everyday as well as our Bella Doodles pre-school sessions, which will all be running as normal. So, please pop by, we would love to see you!
